capricorn AUTOMOTIVE Ltd., based near Andover in Great Britain, was originally founded in 1988 as Perfect Bore Ltd., a specialist in gun drilling and honing. Involvement in motor sport started in 1995 with the production of specialist engine liners for the Formula 1 market.

The engine liner and block conversion activity grew throughout the nineties, and in 1999 the company started producing forged pistons. Swift growth of the business resulted in the introduction of a highly specialised plating facility for the nickel-ceramic coating of liners and cylinder blocks.
